Slice a cube in such a way as to create a regular hexagon in cross section (six congruent sides, six congruent angles).
Viewed at this angle, don’t the halves look like more than half?

That’s kinda cool. I may throw that at some of my classes.

no one said that it had to be halves. just sliced to make a regul;ar hexagon in the cross-section

Is it 1/3 the way down and 45-degree angles?

Looks like half way across each edge.

But they
are
halves...

Yup, you’re right. I don’t know why it looked like 1/3 when I looked at it before. oops

The actual cut makes a zig-zag between the midpoints of six of the edges.

Thanks. I’m going to do some more work with this, including firing up the GoPro and making a time-lapse video of me making one of those with the frames captured every three seconds.

The Priority Mail boxes are nice to work with because the material is very consistent.

It’s good. You still get an A, because you
thought
about it.

It messes with your mind,

probably the perspective is fucking with you. also, the one on the right is SLIGHTLY closer then the one on the left

The distince is actually very similar if you look at the vertex, or the corner on top. The one on the right is rotated 30 degrees. It is
good
to think on things like this... Ponder them in your heart.

Have you watched any of the Vi Hart videos? She does cool math videos.

Cool!

Possibly. I’ll take a look.

I make all kinds of hexaflexagons thanks to her.
